I feel that the split is unnecessary because static emotes can show just as much expression as animated emotes. I wouldn't mind, though, if there was a split.
I think the problem that lies now is the fact that when people want to look for good emotes, they go straight to the animation section: static are just not as common and wanted than its more popular brother.
I actually was apposed to it at first, but now im no so much.
I mean, if you think about it, it only takes a second to figure out whether or not you animated your Emote.... only a tard could not figure that out.....
With the second you just provided the community you may have saved everyone hours of looking for a specific emote..... now people can be like woa, i wanna show my friend that emote but there are alot of emotes and I know that mine was static.... but I have to look through the animated ones too.....
There are other reasons of course but I just thought I would share that....
Easy thing why not keep the galleries as simple and easy to browse for the community.
If you have at least 9 galleries to browse thats by far to much. 4 or 5 galleries are ok and all kind of work fitted perfectly in this galleries.
On the other site the static emoticons are so underrated in this community if you take them together maybe you have no longer this problem because all are in one gallery.
In my eyes if I take a look at the submission our 3 galleries are to complicated for some users. If you gave some lot more options you get more and more miscatz and thats totally uncool and not very friendly for the usability.

I couldn't decide yes or no for this. D:
Also, it makes searching dA for new emotes to use more complex and frustrating.
I use both static and animated emotes in chat the same. It's all about expressing my feelings.

I can think of several why nots, though, too.
I don't really care that much, though. It's pretty much all the same to me.
So, Yes - But if it wasn't put in i wouldn't mind. In fact I'm curious to how things will be without a split like that.
