Welcome to the latest volume of so i herd u liek emotes??. This is the 118th volume in a fortnightly series aimed towards promoting emote and emoticonists from the dA community. It features emotes posted within the past week from both well known and new emoticonists, as well as featuring emote projects, contests and news.

:talktothehand: by ~Scorpion81 is a simple but brilliant little chat emoticon. The shading is awesome and the choice of expressions work really well in the scene.

There’s just something adorable about Love jump by !BlackRoseShadow which made me want to feature it. The individual expressions add character to each of the emoticons and i love how a heart has been used for the O.

It’s always amazing to see how moving a few pixels around can completely alter the expression shown on an emote. `BlissfullySarcastic has done a wonderful job with this on her emoticon Colon Question Mark to create a simple and fantastic puzzled emote.

:happycry: by `stuck-in-suburbia makes me want to happycry. The use of large eyes and a contrasting body colour allows the tears to be really emphasised and bring the emotion across well.

Legend Update

I’m sure by now the majority of people reading this article will know about this, but just in case, i thought i’d give it a quick feature. Earlier this week dA announced they would be running a small legend update and have opened up a journal for you to suggest which emotes you would like to see added. You can suggest up to 5 emotes so make sure your choices are good and don’t be put off if someone else has suggested the emote already – duplicate votes show important the emote is

Fighting scenes have always been one of my favorite kinds of emoticon animations. Especially because it takes a lot of work to provide fluid movement for several emoticons in a scene and make it look good at the same time. Not to mention all the awesome special effects!



Noticeboard

- The Unknown Emotes series has had a name change to Amazing Emoticonists to fit in with what the series now promotes. Be sure to check out the latest issue to see read some great mini-interviews

- On the theme of interviews, `Krissi001 has launched a new series Emotiviews. The first interviewee is me (`Synfull) and you can find a copy here

- There are a few days left on this month’s EMTC. With a theme of Cinema and a massive list of prizes it would be nice to see a few more entries. Rules can be found on this page

- The first dA emote appreciation day took place earlier this month with great success. Be sure to go and thank `Krissi001 for the work she put in

- The current #EmoticonOpus contest is also about to close. If you can find some time to make a quick entry then be sure to give it ago. More info here

- ^SparklyDest is hosting a kiriban for her 100,000th pageview. There is an adorable croctopus on offer if you manage to catch it. She’s now less than 500 away so keep an eye of or it

- `Mirz123 has recently posted Random Emote Awesomeness 6. If you haven’t seen it already be sure to take a look here

- Two new emotes were recently added to the legend. You can now use and anywhere around dA.

- There has been an update to the deadline of `Krissi001’s legend revamp contest to the 18th June
