At first I want to tell you something about the theme:
As you have read the theme is past vs. present vs. future, this means your entry has to include something from the past, present and future. The time isn't set, this means that the past could be just 1 day ago or 100 years ago it's the same with the future. For example: you could display how the emotes have lived in the past how they are living now and how they could live in the future.
Be creative and surprise me with your imagination

The Contest is divided into 2 Categories:
The first Category will be for deviants who would like to work alone. And the second category is for deviants who want to work with somebody (a collaboration category ;D) 2 deviants can work together.
But you could also enter in both categories!

As you wander around deviantART pages, there is noticeably one art medium that invades almost every element of the site. Whether it is the deviantART galleries, journals, news section, comments, forums, chatrooms, avatars or even dA profiles, it is hard to find a spot that hasn't been infiltrated by a familiar set of small, coloured, pixel circles. The art form I am talking about is of course the emoticon and throughout the past 10 or so years they have been happily adopted by deviantART and its community.
Although emoticons can often be spotted on a wide range of other instant messengers (IMs) and social media sites, deviantART has come to house a unique branch of these miniature art pieces. Whilst the majority of these alternative sites opt for simple, predominately yellow emotes with a range of basic expressions, the art community here at dA have stretched the art form far beyond its natural boundaries and developed entirely new styles of emoticons

Random Emote Awesomeness - Volume 10Volume 10 in the series that showcases a random variety of emoticons: some old, some new, some by seasoned emoticonists, some by new artists. There's no real rhyme or reason as to which pieces are featured. Sometimes I pick a theme such as animals, other times it's just whatever strikes my fancy. BlissfullySarcastic was a pen name of mine, and this account was originally for lurking and writing, so I figured I'd use the same name. Oxymorons...fun stuff.
How has deviantART changed your life?
I've never really thought about it. Huh.

Emoticon Gallery Makeover DiscussionGallery Makeover Project
The focus of this journal is to provide a discussion platform about the Gallery Makeover Project for the emote community. This is not the official journal for the emote community, but in the absence of one, does allow us to talk about possible changes. All thoughts and opinions will then be available for the the official Gallery Makeover team to hear the community's views and make final decisions.
Before we dive into the list of suggestions we have so far, I want to give a brief explanation of the project's aims. The main purpose is to simplify the gallery structure by removing and merging categories that are no longer used by the community. It also includes also renaming categories to help reduce confusion and make the whole submission process easier for all.

Featured emotes

The level of detail packed into Watch Workshop by *otohime0394 never fails to amaze me. The watch has been wonderfully made and the small animations of each character bring the whole piece to life

I was lucky enough to see all the WIPs of Life by ~MerelyCubed and with each additional scene I was blown more and more away. For a relatively new emoticonist ~MerelyCubed has extremely detailed and fluent animations full of great features and effects which combine together into one amazing piece. Be sure to watch it the full way through.

Time by ~Ricsmond is another brilliant piece which caught my eye. The expressions and motions displayed by each of the emotes creates a very amusing piece which flows well all the way through. Definitely another to sit and take a look at.
