The emotes in each corner fit really well and the expressions help give a sense of individuality to each Master.

Hanging on by =Indae is an amusing little scene and a fun variation on a contest theme. I love the details packed into the background especially the awesome water effect. Small additions like the eyepatch and emoticon expressions just add to the whole feel of the scene giving a great atmosphere.

I found ~litecrush and =Indae’s entry to the ‘Opposites’ themed collab event a really interesting twist on the theme. Both sides have been nicely pixelled with a clever link between them to make a single great piece of work.

I just love how ~ROBlNHOOD has managed to animate a range of different water themed items into H2O in one fluent emoticon. Each has a great feel to it and some of the special effects really shine through

At first I want to tell you something about the theme:
As you have read the theme is past vs. present vs. future, this means your entry has to include something from the past, present and future. The time isn't set, this means that the past could be just 1 day ago or 100 years ago it's the same with the future. For example: you could display how the emotes have lived in the past how they are living now and how they could live in the future.
Be creative and surprise me with your imagination

The Contest is divided into 2 Categories:
The first Category will be for deviants who would like to work alone. And the second category is for deviants who want to work with somebody (a collaboration category ;D) 2 deviants can work together.

The programs I use for emoting are Fireworks and Photoshop. Photoshop to make the emote shading, then I copy those shaded bodies into Fireworks where I draw the rest of the details and animate them.

Now that I went through the list I noticed that many tutorials aren't helpful at all.  It is "just" a list with very good but also very bad tutorials.

Featured emotes

The Sorcerer's Apprentice by `stuck-in-suburbia is an adorable emote with easily recognisable characters. The animation is simple but effective and really brings the emote to life and the small details really enhance it as a whole.

I always love emotes containing special effects so eat THIS! by ~CCpotteranimator really caught my attention. The animation is fluent throughout with great detail and awesome expressions.

Current projects

A number of emote projects have recently been launched. Be sure to take a look at them all below and consider taking part.

Nano emoticon project

This project is a neat idea focussed on pixelling scenes related to film, music and TV with any characters being replaced by emotes. The opportunities for this seem endless and it would be great to see a few more entries.

Internet games project

The internet games project is exactly what the name suggests – a project set around internet games. The idea is to grab the base and pixel up a scene of a game including some emote characters. It could turn into an interesting project so go check it out.

Candy project

The idea behind the candy project is pretty simple – take the candy base and colour it to look like your OC or another awesome emote. There's still room for a few more entries, so think about making an entry.

Noticeboard
