Opinions are a Dangerous thing: Art StylesThis isn't about narking on anyone no, infact this is just my own muses really! You could say this is a journal for ENCOURAGEMENT! *SHINES*
I find sticking to one style restrictive if you are a beginning/moderate artist! (even professionals I might say! though I can't speak for everyone)
Having a distinctive look on how your art is done and produced is understandable and its a desire to appear unique to the point some one can just SEE your work and instantly think 'Oh! that's Ten-days!' or something along the line. However, when you are trying to find who you are and what kind of art you are to produce, I recommend trying, well, a lot of different things! Different styles, mixing styles, different colouring techinque, brushes, tools, shading. Don't feel dependant on what you are already doing and don't feel pressured by people just for trying new things!
Push out of your comfort zone. Can't draw hands? don't avoid it! draw the heck out of them! (how else are you going to learn?)

Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Nintendo STEALS Money!Since this has been going around lately, I should probably give my two cents. Basically what it amounts to is that Nintendo has filed Content ID info of their games with YouTube. What this means is that if you upload gameplay video of a Nintendo game, YouTube will automatically monetize that video, put ads on it, a link to where to buy the game, and take the money generated from that video and give it directly to Nintendo. People who do "let's play" videos are, naturally, pissed off because they want to be earning money off their videos, so they're calling Nintendo "thieves" for doing this.
I can see both sides to the story. I can see Nintendo as a corporation wanting to exercise control over their properties. On the other hand, "let's play" videos can often help new gamers find games they otherwise wouldn't have tried.
But here's the thing: Nintendo isn't the first company do this. Both Microsoft and Ubisoft do it already. YouTube has also had a long history of having music videos and

General life

I thought it was about time that I stuck a new journal on my front page and give a short update of what I've been up to recently.

Well my biggest piece of news is the fact I've officially finished the 'taught' period of my university degree. My last class was on Friday and I now have a month off before my final year exams. Well I say 'month off' but it's going to be a month of hard work. I have my Final year project (FYP) report to write (which acts as my dissertation) along with an essay to write and 4 exams to revise for.

My last day had a nice twist of events though. I assumed I would simply turn up to class for an hour then go home and get to work on a number of things. Instead I ended up in the pub for 4 hours, followed by an attempt to slackline and some other circus-y type things. I then went with friends to watch The Hunger Games in the evening which nicely rounded off the day. As for my thoughts on the film - It wasn't amazing but it was by no means bad. Parts were pretty predictable but it wasn't tedious or boring watching them play out.

I got my exam timetable a little over a week ago and it;s pretty meh. I have 3 exams in the first week (Monday, Tuesday and Saturday) followed by 12 days off then my final exam on the 17th May. I would have liked the first 3 a little more spaced out, but I'm just happy the one I have most to learn for is last with a good sized gap where I can solely focus on it. To celebrate the end of my exams I am also plotting to visit The Harry Potter Studio Tours the weekend after, so I have something awesome to look forward to.

In the nearer future, I'm not going to be around that much this weekend. I'm heading home to see my family for a few days and have the flovable `blunaowl invading over the weekend which should be good fun. On the Saturday I'm off to the Derby devMeet - my first in about 10 months.

So if I'm not around to answer notes or update my project, you know why

OCtopi

Just a quick update on the OCtopi front. We are now up to a total of nearly 70 OCtopi avatars and verging on 60 mini-OCtopi project entries. I just love to see this craze go

Points wise I now have over 1000 points donated towards some future event or contest. So at some point I will sit down and start looking at contest or event ideas for the community.

That makes sense. I've spoke to a few people who are great at typing English but their spoken English is more broken as they don't really get a chance to practice it much

If you wait until I finish my finals it will be the end of May and the craze may be over. Would probably make far more sense to send the details now and if I have to work on it over a longer period of time then so be it
