I already wrote this journal once then closed the tab, so sorry if its not as polished >.<
The emote community already has a wide range of tutorials covering everything from basic base shading to designing your own OC. However, time and time again i keep coming across one gap that has yet to be filled, and its got to the point i want to try and resolve this issue. Many deviant's first emotes are designed on a canvas with a coloured background. Whilst this is fine in some situations, when it comes to chat friendly emotes it can destroy an emote's usability. Many of these people don't know how to use transparent backgrounds, and this is where you come in.
I would really love to see a range of transparency based emote tutorials for different emote programs (GIMP, PS, Fireworks etc) covering both how to start making an emote with a transparent background, and how to remove a background once it's there. It would be especially useful if the program used was free, though other common programs are also appreciated. It would also be great if the tutorials had a few pictures to guide you through the steps.
Whilst this issue doesn't affect me directly, i regularly come across new emoticonists struggling to use transparency and it would be a useful resource for the community. I used to have some of the info stored in a forum thread, but with the forum revamp its become harder to reference and could do with being put in a nice tutorial. If you know a relevant tutorial already exists, please let me know.

A tutorial on dA on the other hand is effective as well, so I agree with you on that
