Bad encounter with a vampire

Offline news

The last week seems to have shot by as the end of exams opened up a range of things to fill my time. Earlier in the week I went down to London to visit the Harry Potter studio tour and see a wide range of sets and props from the films which was a rather neat experience. It was equally interesting to see just how much behind the scenes knowledge I had picked up from documentaries, though there were a number of new facts and effects that I hadn't heard about before.

On the other end of the scale I had a not so nice experience donating blood this weekend. The donation needle didn't end up in a good position which caused the flow to go too slowly which lead to a number of issues. In the end the session had to be stopped and it resulted in me temporarily losing my hearing and nearly blacking out. Everything was all sorted out though and the only lasting effect is a massive purple bruise on my inner arm. I was calm throughout the whole thing - in actual fact it all rather amused me (which I think was a bit off putting to the people sorting me out xD) and it's certainly one to add to my list of life experiences. Saying that, I wont be rushing to donate again for quite a while.

I'm also on the verge of moving out of my uni flat. My parents are coming on Tuesday to take away the majority of items leaving only a few bare essentials as I have to pop back to uni a couple more times before the end of the month. It's really odd and slightly saddening to pack things up. This has been my home for 2 years and I guess it also brings home the fact my time at uni is over. I'm also not enjoying packing with a bruised elbow :/

Oh, and today (4th June) is =Kyramy's 18th birthday. Swing by her page and give her some flove if you haven't already ;p

Art

As you might have seen, I've recently found some time to do some pixelling. I'm really proud of my Singin' in the Rain piece and decided it was about time to update my avatar too.

I'm now looking for some more ideas of bigger pixel scenes I can work on. I know there are a few projects and outstanding OCtopi commissions to work on, but I'd also like to have a go at some larger pixel scenes. So if anyone has any suggestions (either from films or of your own inventing) let me know.

Emote news

There are a few things in the community right now that I want to help promote:

:bulletblue: I'm hosting a contest over at #EmoticonOpus with the theme of 'summer'. There's a quite nice list of prizes (thank you to all that have donated) and you have until 17th June to make an entry

:bulletgreen: The next EMTC has been launched with the theme of 'Magic'. I was fortunate to win last month so will be judging this month's entries. As always there is a long list of awesome prizes, so go and take a look and consider entering.

:bulletpurple: The 'This or That' contest has recently closed and `stuck-in-suburbia has launched a journal to collect votes for the people's choice award. Do swing by the journal and cast your vote.

My veins are tiny and I need small needles for anyone to get blood. Before surgeries I'm often poked and prodded to get an IV going and one time I was stabbed at least twenty times before the anethesologist listened to me and switched to my right arm and it only took him three tries to get a vein. I went into surgery shaking and came out of it in shock. I have to have blood taken every three to six months due to my health, but I do not give blood, even though my blood is common, B-Positive. When in the hospital I ask for a lab-tech or a nurse that used to be a lab-tech to put in my IVs. Needles and I do not get along. My sympathies are with you :cuddle:

I feel sorry for you :( My Mum and my Grandma are both the same way and it always frustrates them that they know exactly where they will be able to insert the needle and where to it will fail. But no one ever listens and still follows procedures leaving them like a pin cushion.

Because we don't have medical degrees our opinions don't count, even though we all know our own bodies  ~ I have dread in my heart to think of having to go the hospital again:fear:

haha, I'm actually glad that I'm not allowed to give blood now. That would be terrible. I lived in Germany through 1996-1999 and during that time, the US has made it clear that if anyone lived in Germany during that time can't donate blood because of the Mad Cow Disease Epidemic XD Yes apparently, I'm a mad cow.
