Memory Book: Depression by Synfull Memory Book: Depression by Synfull
Back in February I celebrated my 10th anniversary of joining dA and wanted to undertake a project to highlight some of my favourite memories from the years gone by. I came up with the idea for a memory book, with a range of 'Polaroids' capturing special moments, friendships and events. As the project is taking far longer than expected I decided to release the images one by one, and assemble them into the scrapbook when the project is ready.

Read below to find out more about the memory, and check out my gallery for more in the series.

Depression is something that I have lived with since my teenage years, but whilst at University it started to hit me worse than ever. I didn't particularly like half of the course I picked and started to really panic about what I wanted to do with my life after education was over. All of this added to the stress of uni work, adapting to new situations and other commitments meant I ended up in a very negative headspace for around 2-3 years.

In order to complete this project I read back through all of my past journals, and found the ones from this period very hard to stomach. I was tempted to skip over it for this reason, but feel it's part of my story and deserves to be shared along with the happier memories. And I really want to thank the friends that I had in this period of my life as they really helped to keep me going.

I'm now in a much much better place and thankful that my depression patches are currently few and far between.

Damn, I'd hate to imagine how it must have felt being stressed out between both your studies and life management, especially being so far from your family too. Depression and anxiety is never a good combination.

Luckily my family was never too far away so I saw them regularly. It was mainly night time which was rough, where everything is quiet and I had too much time to think

From my knowledge, about 40 miles from Derby to Birmingham (sorry, I'm a nerd when it comes to UK road distances XD).

Even with the trauma you had, there must have been students who did care about your well being too. <3
