To some of my long term watchers this may look familiar and thats cos it is. To me this is known as Alan's cross as i drew it in memory of one of my classmates who died nerly 2 years ago. I drew the cross soon after the incident, and after 1 year i placed a copy attached to a tree in the school memorial garden.

I placed it there because i couldn't afford anything like flowers at the time and wanted my own personal way of remembering him. After 2 weeks the flowers had disappeared, but my cross remained and to my knowledge it is still there attached to the tree.

However after a year of weathering, it was looking rather dirty and gloomy when i last saw it, so i made a promise to each year replace it. I may not have been good friends with Alan, but his death changed my perspective on life. I wont ever forget him and i hope no one else will.

I am hopefully going tomorrow to change this. i'm not yet sure whether to add it, or to remove the old one and if i remove it, where to place it. I don't think its right for me to keep it, but i'm not sure if anyone else will see the significance in it. i'm not even sure if people have noticed it ^^;

Anyways, this is this years design. I remembered to use permentant ink this time. A deviant was talking to me about adding a background colour into my deviations and i decided to give it a try. I quite like it and i might change the colour each year from now on.

Just beautiful, and yes I remember it.....

I think that you are most definately entitled to keep that first piece, if even just to think, "Wow, this guy changed my life, and he is important in that simple sense", You should after the second one just layer them all on top of each other, to show how dedicated you are to someone or something that may not have seemed important but was truly a piece of anyones life though they didnt notice.

I dont really care that much about the layout or the contrast ect.... as much as I do about the thought and feeling behind it, you have done a great thing here even though it doesnt seem like it.....

The reason i don't think i should keep it is its his cross. He, his family or the school should keep it. I might layer them up so the old one is still there but the new one is visible

and :hug:

There's always a bright side to life. It's just a matter of not being too colourblind to be able to see it

Look outside. Look at the sky, look at the trees, look at the animals. It's a beautiful day. It's funny how often people forget that..
