This is my entry into the First round
's contest on the theme of 'modern'.
This round of the contest was split into two groups, with each group having a different theme. Whilst others were tasked to make a 'retro' emote, my theme was 'modern'. Thinking of places the word 'modern' is used, modern art immediately came to mind. A quick search through the modernism
wikipedia page brought up this
famous painting by Piet Mondrian, which I used as the base for my entry.
The black lines gave ideal places for the emotes to sit and after bouncing some ideas around I decided they could paint the coloured areas. As my normal dithering style wouldn't really work on something which was meant to be a painting, I used a texture to prevent the coloured patches being blocks of one colour.
I feel there are some places this could be improved, and some slight animation will probably work well, but the deadline is nearing and I want to make sure I get an entry in.
This emote also counts as my 3rd entry for #NaNoEmoReferences:
