As part of #ArtHistoryProject's customization month, I wrote an article summarising the history of emotes on deviantART. The article highlights a number of key events in the (modern) history of the art form, through the use of examples and short explanations.

I fear that over time the article will become lost in the mountain of other journals and news articles posted by myself and others on the site. I have therefore created this deviation which can sit along side my other tutorials and guides and link directly to the original news article.

I ask that you please direct all comments on to the actual news article rather than this deviation
